The Trashers went back out on the road as they took the trip to Washington Crossing Pennsylvania to take on the BCRC Slammers on the outdoor Har Tru tennis courts.
First serve took place at 8:00 am as the sun was peaking its way onto the courts. This game featured chilly tennis weather with some windy conditions. The bright yellow tennis balls didn’t seem to bounce on the courts and players couldn’t seem to have good footing all day. However, lots of tennis action took place off the rackets.
The starting lineup for the Trashers presented two new players who were making their debut on this day. The Trashers signed Joe Witte, Jelani Lay, and Joe Brenner (made debut opening day) in the off-season and are good tennis guys and team guys.
SINGLES POSITION 1:
Joe Witte
SINGLES POSITION 2:
Mark Shaffer
DOUBLES POSITION 1:
Dmitry Belov / Lance Shaffer
DOUBLES POSITION 2:
Bill Burger / Bob Hawley
DOUBLES POSITION 3:
Carlos Araujo / Jelani Lay
The Trashers came into this game 1-0 in the standings but got off to a slow start as a team today. The Slammers jumped to a 12-0 lead until Bill Burger and Bob Hawley slammed back to score 4 points. However, that was all the points the Trashers would pull today as they fell to the home team by a score of 17-4. The Trashers worked hard and know they must continue to work together on the practice courts.
We're going to be honest with the haters! We don't care what you think. We want our team to be tough. You know what you have to do. You know our philosophy!
We (Trashers) don't get pushed around. That doesn't happen here. We stick up for each other. That's the Trasher mentality. Trasher Tough! The Enforcers Of Tennis.
Energy!
Passion!
Toughness!
Loyalty!
Teamwork!
