(6/3/23) Topspins Average Joes @ Frosty Hollow Trashers

The Topspins Average Joes came into Frosty Hollow Hard Courts Stadium today to take on the home team; The Frosty Hollow Trashers.

It was a muggy day with a light breeze. With a good crowd on hand the starting lineups were announced for this much anticipated affair. Both teams bidding for a top seed in the standings made this matchup thrilling.

Randy Swadlow / Bob Hawley

Bill Burger / Andrew Olson (Trashers Debut)

It was Tarik Bassal who put 4 points in the Trashers favor to take the lead. Lance Shaffer and Dave Leno added 5 more points to make the home crowd go into a frenzy. Bill Burger and Andrew Olson (making his Trasher debut) teamed up to add another 3 points. With the score 12-0 the Trashers were already in good position to win for the day. However, with the standings being so close, every team needs as many court wins as possible to compete for a playoff bid. Every point matters. It was then Zach McGowan who put in 5 more points and things were looking nicely as the away crowd headed to the exits. Randy Swadlow and Bob Hawley closed it out with scoring 4 points and must’ve really made their opponents angry because as some of the Average Joes players were driving away they showed no class. Seemed like poor sportsmanship from a media perspective or maybe they were just upset about a sticker but very strange nonetheless so we’ll just leave it alone there. Everyone knew the magnitude of this game and you could certainly feel the tension on the playing courts. It seems to be a tight race so each game is going have a playoff vibe to it until seasons end.

All in all it was a full sweep today. The brooms were out
